POST-USSR: ASSESSING GOVERNMENT ANTI-CRISIS ACTIONS

Post-USSR: Assessing Government Anti-Crisis Actions

In February 2009 our Institute has carried out a research survey "Post-USSR: Assessing Government Anti-Crisis Actions".

The purposes of research – open public examination of anti-crisis actions by the governments of former USSR countries.

On results of this research the Paper of the same name has been presented on March 23 in the Interfax agency in Moscow and in the nearest future it will be presented in Kiev and Astana.

This International Research Paper will be directed to the governments of former USSR countries.

An expert survey Post-USSR: Assessing Government Anti-Crisis Actions is the first project carried out by the Institute.

“It’s no secret that the former territory of the USSR that covered one sixth of the planet’s land mass is still terra incognita to many in the world. But the paradox from our point of view is that most of the young countries that nineteen years earlier were earlier republics of a common state are also terra incognita amongst each other. Gone are the imaginary pains of amputated limbs from the country. A new design encompassing these territories would reflect structural organization, configuration of their parts, their current and changing positions and more importantly their interconnectivity will finally be brought to the forefront.
How will the post-Soviet countries survive through the crisis? What are the chances to survive a global collapse without substantial loss? What will be the new economic configuration after the crisis? How much would it depend on the actions by governments and the nations’ leaders?
Our research is devoted to finding the answers to these questions and to the collection of new ideas”.
